The weekend’s €5.5m Lotto jackpot has been won in Co Clare, the second big win in the county in recent months.
The winning ticket for the €5,553,404 prize was bought at Corbett’s shop in Quin village.
The winning ticket was a €4 Quick Pick purchased on Saturday.
The village was abuzz with speculation yesterday as small groups of massgoers gathered to discuss the news after local mass.
One local man said: “It was all the talk after mass and around the village. Everyone was ringing or texting each other but no one has a notion who won it.”
“I was in the shop myself later and by the sounds of it, it was a €4 Quick Pick that won it,” he added.
In August, a Lotto jackpot worth more than €6m was won with a ticket also purchased in Co Clare.
A Limerick woman scooped the prize with a €4 Quick Pick she bought at Kennedy’s Centra in Lahinch.
The winner collected her cheque at Lotto headquarters a few days later but opted to remain anonymous.
The last Lotto jackpot win in Clare prior to that was on 5 May 2012 when the €2,688,982 winning ticket was sold in Liddy’s Costcutters, Roslevan Shopping Centre, Ennis.
