Gardaí are searching for two culprits after thousands of euro worth of stock was stolen in an early morning smash and grab raid at a pharmacy in Ennis.

The raid occurred at around 2.30am at Cassidy’s Pharmacy in O’Connell St in Ennis.

Two raiders, believed to be males, used a sledge hammer to smash in the reinforced glass panelling on the front door of the premises. Once they had gained entry, the hooded pair are understood to have spent no more than a minute inside.

The thieves filled bags with stock, mainly brand name men’s fragrances and cleared several shelves before leaving the scene.

The men left the scene in a dark coloured car, thought to be a Volkswagen Golf.

The shop’s alarm system activated and gardaí arrived quickly to find that the thieves had already left the area.

Gardaí in Ennis are investigating the robbery and are looking CCTV footage from the shop and other sources.

Ennis station can be contacted on 065 68 48100 if anyone was in the area at the time or has any information about the incident.
