Flynn elected Mayor of Ennis Municipal District

Ennis Councillor Johnny Flynn (FG) has been elected Mayor of Ennis at the  first meeting and AGM of the Ennis Municipal District Committee at Áras Contae an Chláir.

Independent Councillor and former TD James Breen has been elected Deputy Mayor. It was agreed that the mayor will receive an added salary of €12,000.

The eight members of the Ennis Municipal District met officially for the first time today.

The Ennis Municipal District Committee is one of four Municipal Districts (Ennis, Shannon, Killaloe and West Clare) which replaced the six Electoral Areas in accordance with the Local Electoral Area Boundary Committee Report 2013. Each Municipal District has a Municipal District Co-ordinator at senior management level and a separate headquarters.

The Ennis Municipal District Committee is based at Áras Contae an Chláir. The Ennis Municipal District Co-ordinator is Mr. Gerard Dollard, Director of Service and the Meetings Administrator is Ms. Catherine O’Hara, Administrative Officer. The 8 Elected Members of the Ennis Municipal District Committee are Cllr. Ann Norton, Cllr. Mary Howard, Cllr. Claire Colleran Molloy, Cllr. Pat Daly, Cllr. Paul Murphy, Cllr. James Breen, Cllr. Tom McNamara and Cllr. Johnny Flynn.
