Thousands of Garth Brooks fans across County Clare have been left disappointed this afternoon following the news that the American country singer’s five Croke Park concerts have been cancelled.
Aiken Promotions confirmed the news saying that it has “exhausted all avenues” regarding the staging of the events later this month.
“We are very disappointed for the 400,000 fans who purchased tickets for The Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event,” the promoter said in a statement.
The ticket return process will be outlined tomorrow.
The performances were due to go ahead later this month before Dublin City Council ruled last week that it would only grant planning permission for three of the concerts on foot of concerns expressed by local residents. Garth Brooks subsequently stressed that he would only go ahead with the concerts if all five were approved.

Now ye jokers! Take that! Garth Brooks won't be in Croke Park more times than Westmeath footballers this year. #Winning

Can't help but complain about this. Garth Brooks could have relaunched in Madison Square Garden but he picked Ireland. And now this.
