cOUSTRAIN2An Ardnacrusha teenager has signed a professional contract with English League One side Sheffield United, becoming the second Clare footballer in as many months to turn professional in the sport.

Former Corbally United footballer Joel Coustrain (18) is a member of the Irish U18 panel and has in the past scored a hat-trick while representing his country at U16 level.

Three years ago, Coustrain signed a 3-year academy soccer contract with Sheffield United which has led to him securing a professional contract with The Blades, Brian McLaughlin reported in The Limerick Post this week.

Earlier this summer, former Avenue United player Dylan Casey from Ennis signed a professional contract with Sky Bet Championship side Millwall FC.
