The removal will take place this evening of the former Ennis GP, Dr. Frank Counihan who died this week at the age of 91.

Dr. Counihan worked as a GP in Ennis for nearly four decades.

Along with Brian McMahon and Fr. Harry Bohan, Dr. Counihan was a central figure in the establishment of Cahercalla Community Hospital. Dr. Counihan also worked in the former maternity section of Cahercalla Hospital.

He is survived by his wife Mimi, their daughters Caroline, Francesca, Rachel, Helen and Eve, and a large circle of family and friends.

Duneral arrangements: Reposing at Kennedy’s Funeral Home, Ennis today, Wednesday from 6pm with removal at 7.30pm to the Pro Cathedral, Ennis. Funeral Mass tomorrow, Thursday at 11am Burial afterwards in Drumcliffe Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations if desired to Cahercalla Community Hospital.
