New Clare Oscar Traynor boss appointed

The Board of the Clare District Soccer League has today appointed a successor to Liam Murphy in the role as manager of the county’s Oscar Traynor side.

Mick Sheils, a former manager of Pike Rovers in Limerick, takes over from Murphy who has returned to manage Newmarket Celtic A having guided Clare to the Oscar Traynor Final earlier this year.

In a statment issued this evening, the Clare DSL commented: “Mick is a very well respected man in the game with a lot of experience in local, national and uk soccer. We have made great progress in the last number of years and have now appointed the right man to continue that progress. Best of luck to Mick and everyone involved this season.”

Meanwhile, the draw for this year’s Oscar Traynor Trophy has been annoucned.

Clare have been drawn in Group 6 with Galway, Mayo and Roscommon

Leinster Senior League, Wicklow, AUL, Defence Forces.

Group 2
United Churches League, Leinster Football League, Garda, Meath.

Group 3
Wexford, Kilkenny, Waterford, Carlow.

Group 4
Limerick, Kerry, Cork AUL, Desmond League.

Group 5
Sligo/Leitrim, Inishowen, Donegal, Cavan/Monaghan.

Group 6
Mayo, Roscommon, Galway, Clare.
