Intel in Shannon continued its focus on promoting science and engineering in the local area by holding its ninth annual Women in Technology (WIT) award ceremony recently.

Five new scholarships were awarded, while seven other scholars renewed their scholarships by merit of their academic results.

Current award recipients are from Clare, Limerick and Cork and are attending University of Limerick, Limerick Institute of Technology, University College Cork, NUI Galway, and Cork Institute of Technology, to study technology focused courses such as Electronic and Computer Engineering and Computer Science.

Intel Shannon also awarded scholarships to a number of young male scholars starting technology and engineering courses in the University of Limerick as part of the Paul Whelan memorial scholarship programme.

Over the nine years since the programme was first initiated, Intel Shannon has invested almost $500,000 in scholarships and placement programmes.
