Clare All-Ireland winner from 1995 and 1997, Ger ‘Sparrow’ O Loughlin tasted more success at the weekend when led Kilmallock to the Limerick Senior Hurling title with a 1-15 to 0-14 win over a fancied Na Piarsaigh.
Kilmallock led from start to finish in a tie that saw wing back Liam Walsh dismissed on a straight red and full back Mark O Loughlin was sent to the line for a second bookable offence.
It is the eleventh senior title Kilmallock have won in their history, their last coming only two years ago. Sparrow’s side now advance to the Munster Semi-Final where they will take on Cork County Champions, Sarsfields.
Caherdavin club, Na Piarsaigh also had a Clare connection as they were trained by Shannon man, Alan Cunningham who was involved with the Clare Minors in 2014 and has served as trainer to the Clare Senior hurling side on two separate occasions.
