Winds gusting to 110kph are expected across County Clare tonight as the remains of former Category 4 Hurricane Gonzalo track close to Ireland’s west coast.

Met Éireann has issued a Yellow Warning for all of Munster, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway and Roscommon.

Strong to gale force south to southwest winds will become gale force west or northwest overnight with gusts of 90 to 110km/h.

The warning remains in place until 2pm on Tuesday 21 October 2014.

Meanwhile, Clare County Council said: “Coastal areas are most at risk. This weather will coincide with high tides tomorrow morning.  The tides are not spring tides, however Clare County Council is urging persons who are exposed to north westerly winds in particular to be vigilant over this period.  People who have previously experienced flooding situations are advised to take appropriate precautions.”
