Clare All-Ireland winning medallist from 1997, Colin Lynch has been announced as the Senior Hurling manager of Newmarket on Fergus for 2015.

It is the first time Lynch has taken a managerial role with a senior Clare club since retiring from his playing career. The former midfield maestro served as trainer of 2013 All-Ireland Club Champions, St Thomas of Galway this year. The Lissycasey native succeeds Tom Mc Namara who was part of the management team for a number of years before taking the role of manager in 2013.

Joining Colin Lynch’s management team are Martin Ryan and Brian Enright. Ryan was manager of the Newmarket on Fergus minor team that were crowned County Champions in 2007. Enright has been quiet successful on the management front having guided the Senior Camogie team to County titles in 2010 and 2011.

The 2014 campaign saw the Newmarket on Fergus Senior hurlers defeat Tulla, Tubber and Clarecastle in the group stages before falling to County finalists Crusheen at the quarter finals.

Colin Lynch becomes the latest player from the Class of 97 to join the managerial ranks. His appointment was announced on www.newmarketonfergusgaa.com on Sunday night.
