meelickHallThe closure of Meelick Community Hall due to health and safety issues has left a “large hole in the community” according to locals.

The Hall served as a centre for activities such as, scouting, speech and drama, Irish dancing, singing groups, fitness classes and facilitates the local school for physical education in Meelick since its opening in 1989 until May of this year.

The cost to rectify the health san safety concerns issues is approximately €25,000. This includes the demolition and rebuilding of part of a gable wall, stripping the roof and resetting the roof trusses, Bracing and other ancillary works.

A number of local fundraisers have been announced for the coming months, including a bagpack on November 27th-29th.

Donations are also being accepted via a new website at www.meelickhall.com.

Persons wishing to join the fundraising committee or wishing to provide assistance should contact the Hall Secretary Paul Walsh on premierfc1@gmail.com.
