Interim Examiner appointed to Shannon company

An interim examiner has been appointed to Transaero Engineering Ireland in Shannon.

At the High Court today, Judge Bernard Barton appointed Michael McAteer as interim examiner to try and save the insolvent Russian-owned aircraft maintenance company which employs 200 people in Shannon.

Judge Barton heard today that the firm is feeling the effects of of EU/US trade sanctions, the Rouble currency crisis and falling oil prices.

The former Air Atlanta Aero Engineering has been under Russian ownership since it was acquired by Transaero Airlines in 2012.

Clare FM reports that the survival plan will see some form of restructuring but in the meantime the company is sending out the message that it’s business as usual.
