A resident of Miltown Malbay in County Clare has been appointed to the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI).
Dr Rosemary Day is Head of Department of Media and Communications Studies in Mary Immaculate College at UL and has lived in Miltown for a number of years.
Dr Day is an advocate on community broadcasting, and is involved in the founding of two community radio stations and CRAOL.
Other appointees include Clare Duignan, former Head of Programming in RTE; Cork based Galway woman, Professor Maeve McDonagh who previously served on the Freedom of Information Commission and lectures in Law in UCC and Denis Wolinski, formerly of OFCOM, the UK broadcasting authority
Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Alex White TD, today obtained Government approval for the appointment of the new members, following their nomination by the Joint Oireachtas Committee (JOC) on Transport and Communications.
