Clare advanced to the U16A Munster Final after a comprehensive eleven point win over the Premier County.
The game was played in very windy conditions and Clare opened the first half playing against the breeze. A long range delivery by Laura Foley to Evelyn Duggan produced the game’s opening score as Duggan raised a green flag for the Clare outfit. A point soon followed by the Tipperary girls and was responded by two like scores from Roisin Begley. Courageous defending and teamwork from the Clare team saw the half close out with Clare leading on a scrolling of 1-2 to 1 point.
Upon the resumption Clare played with the aid of the breeze but it was the Tipperary side that started the stronger and drew level with a goal and a point early in the second half. Following numerous missed changes the Clare girls battled on for to resume the lead with an Evelyn Duggan goal soon followed by another goal by Laura McGrath.
A Munster final place was secured solely on the basis that it was a strong team performance from the Banner outfit with each individual contributing to the cause and such a display must be replicated when they face Cork in the decider.
