County Clare recorded its highest temperature of the year to date on Tuesday.

The temperature at Shannon Airport reached 18.9c during the afternoon making it the second hottest location in the country after Valentia where mercury levels reached 19.4c.

Similar conditions are expected during Wednesday and early Thursday before more unsettled conditions sweep across the country during Thursday night and on Friday. A much colder, showery regime is expected to be in place for the weekend and the early days of next week.
