Tourism Ireland in Madrid invited a leading Spanish tour operator – Panavisión Tours – and ten of its top-producing travel agents to visit Co Clare recently.
The group’s itinerary included lunch at Durty Nelly’s, followed by a tour of Bunratty Castle & Folk Park. The travel agents also enjoyed a traditional Irish music session in Flanagan’s Bar in Lahinch and dined at O’Looney’s Bar & Restaurant. The next day, they visited the Cliffs of Moher, before departing along the Wild Atlantic Way for Galway. They stayed at the Falls Hotel & Spa in Ennistymon.
Barbara Wood, Tourism Ireland’s manager in Spain, said: “Spain is an important market for tourism to the island of Ireland and we were delighted to see visitor numbers increase by +11% in 2014, an extra 28,000 Spanish visitors when compared to 2013. We are determined to ensure that tourism growth continues. Inviting influential travel agents and tour operators to come and experience at first-hand what’s on offer here is a key element of Tourism Ireland’s promotional programme. Our aim is that when they return home, the travel agents will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Clare and Ireland.”
