The “DRAGON” re-supply craft, which was successfully launched this week, and will be visible along with the International Space Station (ISS) in Irish skies tonight (Thursday) and tomorrow night at 9.51pm and 8.57pm respectively.

As the below photograph from John Meyler Photography illustrates, the ISS and Dragon were also visible on Wednesday night in the skies over County Clare.

“In 30 years of watching spacecraft in Irish skies I have never seen anything like this before!” said David Moore, Editor of Astronomy Ireland magazine.

The Dragon is expected to dock to ISS at midday on Friday.

“The rare ‘space chase’will be visible tonight when the brilliant International Space Station blazes across Irish skies with the Dragon re-supply craft next to in the sky, for a minute or so. They will look like two bright ‘stars’ to the naked eye and be easily visible to the naked eye even from brightly lit cities,” explained David Moore.
