Scariff native, McTernan performed a cover of ‘Earned It’ by The Weekend, a song that is on the soundtrack to Fifty Shades of Grey; Una Foden commented that Sarah could possibly be on the soundtrack’s sequel. “I thought that was a really smouldering, sexy performance; that song being on Fifty Shades of Grey, I can hear you on the sequel.”
Foden added “You’ve got a really husky voice that I’d like to hear more of. The beauty in your voice is that really deep, sexy sound and I would prefer if you held back in pushing it so much, but overall I still loved it.”
Niall Breslin more affectionately known as Bressie stated how pleased he was to see Sarah singing a song of this genre. “They are the songs I want to hear you sing, they are the songs that suit you, no doubt about it. The big production songs where you try to recreate this over-processed vocal that we hear on a lot of pop records in the charts at the moment isn’t you, that’s you.”
Kian Egan felt it was one of Sarah’s best performances on the talent show, while her coach Rachel Stevens was beaming with pride following her display. “I’m so proud, not only has she got an incredible voice but she’s just grown every single week. You’ve got this distinctive unique voice and you’re such a talent”.
Sarah is now one of the remaining four contestants in the show. She will face off with Kieran McKillop from Ballymena who is also on Team Rachel, Dublin’s Patrick Donoghue and nineteen year old Emma Humber. Kian Egan will have no act in the final.
According to Paddy Power, Clare’s remaining contestant is the underdog at 5/1. Team Una’s Patrick Donoghue is the bookies favourite while Emma Humber a member of Team Bressie is given odds of 5/2 and Kieran McKillop is ranked as the third place favourite at 4/1. The Grand Final takes place next Sunday in The Helix and a call is being towards the people of the Banner to get behind their only act and pick up the phones and vote for Sarah when the lines open during Sunday’s live show.
