Norwegian flight 7045 was en route from London Gatwick to Fort Lauderdale in Florida when it made a u-turn over the Atlantic at around 5.00pm

The crew had requested that authorities meet the aircraft once it landed shortly after 6 o’clock.

A 28-year-old man was removed from the plane and has been taken to Shannon garda station for questioning.

The Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner jet was about an hour into it’s journey when the crew diverted.
