Comfortable Opening Round Win For Crusheen

hurlingCrusheen laid out their championship intentions after proving far too strong for Inagh/Kilnamona in the opening round of the Clare Senior Hurling Championship.

In the first game of the 2015 club Championship Crusheen ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-18 to 0-16. A goal from Conor O’Donnell in the fifteenth minute of the first half plus points from Cian Dillon, Paddy Vaughan, Darragh and Ciarán O’Doherty gave the 2010 and 2011 Champions a 1-10 to 0-05 lead at half-time.

Inamona hit more against the breeze than with as they notched nine points in the second half but a Cian Dillon goal along with an owngoal from Dermot Lynch deterred their comeback. They are now in the losers section of Round Two while Crusheen have confirmed their Senior status for 2016 and advance to the winners side of Round Two.

Elsewhere Wolfe Tones began life in the Intermediate grade in spectacular fashion with a comfortable 6-19 to 0-14 win over St Josephs Doora/Barefield. Indeed it was Doora/Barefield that relegated the Tones from Senior last year and they extracted some revenge on the Parish in Sixmilebridge. However their victory was marred somewhat as Aaron Cunningham had to retire due to a hamstring injury and it is not yet known how serious his injury is.
