The draw for the PK Travel Clare Senior Camogie Championship was made earlier on this evening with some interesting ties to come in the upcoming Championship.
Reigning champions Kilmaley have been paired alongside Kilkishen, Truagh/Clonlara and 2015 League champions, Newmarket-on-Fergus. Managed by Gerry Kennedy, Kilmaley will be eager to hold onto their crown however they are expected to be minus the services of Eimear Considine who is aiming to take part in the Rio Olympics with the Irish Sevens Rugby team. With disappointing League campaigns behind them Kilkishen and Truagh will need to improve in order to make the last four.
A fine selection of intriguing contests will take place in Group Two with Inagh/Kilnamona, Sixmilebridge, Clooney/Quin and Clarecastle/Ballyea all fighting for two semi-final spots. Inamona will be favourites in this group having showed great promise and with a number of underage players stepping up to the mark. Both Clooney and Sixmilebridge will both be disappointed with recent championship campaigns and will aim to eradicate this come Championship. Meanwhile Clarecastle/Ballyea will hope to set the Senior grade alight having made the promotion from Intermediate.
Focus in the Adult Camogie scene is now on the Clare Senior side as Colm Honan’s charges prepare for the All-Ireland series.
Clare’s Senior Camogie Championship will commence in August with teams now stepping up their training having discovered their championship opponents.
