C.L.G. Cora Chaitlín will host its annual Golf Classic on July 31st and August 1st at Shannon Golf Club. The launch for this year’s event took place outside the clubhouse of Shannon Golf Club last week.

Speaking at the launch, Clare Senior Hurler and member of the organising committee, Colin Ryan talked about the importance of the Golf Classic. “It’s a great event that raises much needed funds for the club while also being a very enjoyable weekend”.

Over €3,000 worth of prizes are on offer at the Golf Classic with the teams finishing in the top eight all receiving a prize. The top prize is Golf and one night’s B&B for four at the five star Lough Erne Resort in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh which was voted IGTOA 2010 Golf Resort of the Year. Pat Keogh Chauffeur Services are proud to sponsor the top prize while The Sports Bar and McNamara Printers are the remaining main sponsors.

Newmarket-on-Fergus GAA Public Relations Officer, Páraic McMahon expressed his gratitude for the assistance of the sponsors and the organising committee. “It makes a massive difference to have the backing of an array of great sponsors for the Golf Classic and without them this event would not be possible, whether it’s our main sponsors or those sponsoring a tee box. The same applies for the committee in place who have done several hours of work in preparation for the two day event”.

Teams of four are invited to take part in the Golf Classic. Tee times still remain and are available to book from Brian (0870505874) and Colin (0879371072). When the action comes to a close on the golf course, all participants are invited to The Sports Bar on Saturday evening (August 1st) for food and live music from 20:00 while the presentation of prizes will take place at 21:45.
