Offaly announce starting fifteen for Clare clash

hurling gaaOffaly manager, Brian Whelehan has unveiled his starting team for Saturday’s crunch qualifier with Clare in Cusack Park.

The side shows one change from the team defeated by Laois in the Leinster Championship. Seir Kieran’s Éanna Murphy has been handed a starting berth at wing-back in place of Cathal Parlon.

Whelehan has opted for a lethal inside line with Shane Dooley, Joe Bergin and Brian Carroll all named in the full forward line. The trio have arguably been the top attackers for the Faithful County in the past decade.

Dan Currams captains the side from centre-forward. For many of the Offaly men it will be their first taste of action against the Banner County, the teams met in the 2012 National League while the last Championship meeting was in 2005.

Davy Fitzgerald has named a twenty six man panel ahead of the qualifier but he is expected to name the starting fifteen on Friday evening. Joint Captain Patrick Donnellan is ruled out through suspension while Brendan Bugler, Conor McGrath, Colm Galvin and Aaron Cunningham are all available for selection.
