RefugeewStaff of Limerick City and County Council have made a €3,000 donation to the Concern Syrian Appeal in response to the ongoing refugee crisis in the region.

The donation is being made through the local authority’s Staff Humanitarian/Benevolent Fund, which has contributed over €250,000 to charitable causes since its inception 10 years ago.

Padraig Power, Fund Committee member commented: “In light of the recent horrific events in Syria and beyond the Staff Humanitarian/Benevolent Fund has made a donation on behalf of its members and Limerick City & County Council. Through the continued support and humanity of staff, we have posted a cheque today to Concern Syrian Appeal.”

“We hope this donation of €3,000 goes some small way in helping to alleviate the suffering of these people. We need to play a role, no matter how small, in helping to prevent the tragic scenes that have been documented in the news this week,” said Mr. Power.
