Kilkishen athlete Sean Hehir was crowned national champion at the SSE Airtricity Dublin City Marathon on Monday.

The 30-year-old primary school teacher, who participated in the Berlin marathon four weeks ago, finished the race in a time of 2:19:47 finishing ahead of Gary O’Hanlon (2:25:21) and David Mansfield (2:30:45).

Pauline Curley was crowned women’s national champion as Alemu Gemechu and Nataliya Lehonkova took overall glory.

More than 15,000 participated in the marathon on Monday.
