Naval divers are participating in a search operation for a man feared to have fallen into the sea in the Caherrush area of West Clare.

The 19-year-old from the Quilty area was last seen on Sunday night while the alarm was raised at around 11 o’clock on Monday.

Gardaí contacted the Irish Coast Guard who dispatched units from Kilkee and Doolin to assist in the search in the Caherush area, between Spanish Point and Quilty.

It’s understood that some personal property belonging to the man was discovered near the sea at Spanish Point where the search is now concentrated.

Land teams searched the coast line while the Shannon based search and rescue helicopter also carried out an aerial search on Monday.

The land and sea search, involving Coastguard Unites, naval divers, the SAR helicopter and members of the local community, was stood down on Monday night but has resumed resumed this morning.
