Cityjet flight WX-319 from London City was first to divert to Shannon after aborting its landing attempt at Cork at around 7.10pm.

A short time later, an Aer Lingus Regional from Glasgow was on approach to Cork when the crew opted not to attempt a landing and instead enter a holding pattern.

Twenty minutes later however, flight EI-3833, operated by Stobart Air, also diverted to Shannon. The aircraft has since flown to Manchester while the passengers are being taken to Cork by bus.

The return leg of the flight from Cork to Manchester has been cancelled.

Aer Lingus flight EI-723 from Heathrow has also diverted to Shannon while the return flight to London has since been cancelled. The passengers from that flight are also expected to be taken to Cork by road.

An Aer Lingus flight from Amsterdam was later able to land at Cork without incident.

Later, four Ryanair flights that were unable to land at Dublin because of high winds also diverted to Shannon.
