In the late summer of 1888 a large number of evictions took place on the estate of Vandeleurs in the wider Kilrush area.
While considerably less than the number of evictions that took place in the same area in 1848-9, the 1888 evictions are documented more extensively in history books due to the fact many were photographed at the time.
By the end of the summer, evictions had taken place on seven separate days and had affected 22 holdings before they were suspended pending a possible settlement. Read more here.
