Spin South West has launched of a new community based initiative “Spin South West Local Sports Heroes”, a campaign which targets outstanding young sports players and individuals within their clubs and communities.

The year long programme celebrates youths who excel and contribute to their sports clubs in various different ways.

Clubs and their members from across Tipperary, Laois, Kerry, Clare and Limerick are invited to nominate individuals on www.spinsouthwest.com. Individuals will be grouped by sport and region and a shortlist will be posted each month on the website for the public to vote on.

Each month a new individual will be awarded the coveted award which are hand carved plaques courtesy of Kerry based business, Monson Irish Jewellery. The Awards will culminate into an event celebrating all the SPIN South West local sports heroes in at a gala reception in the region December 2016.

Each month the SPIN South West promotional team (the SPINIs) will promote the campaign by visiting a variety of clubs throughout the region and challenging some of the nominees to various sporting tasks.

Speaking about the initiative, Marketing Manager of Spin South West, Kathryn Ryan said “It’s so important for the South West’s No.1 regional music station for 15-34’s to celebrate all areas of interest to our listeners. We recognise that sport is such a huge part of  life for young people in Limerick, Kerry, Clare and North Tipperary and we wanted to celebrate the achievements of club members from all across the South West region. We hope that sporting clubs and counties will embrace this campaign and celebrate their young team members by nominating their heroes each month.”
