Clare Senior Hurling manager, Davy Fitzgerald has been dealt a blow with All-Ireland winning captain Patrick Donnellan set for a period on the sidelines through injury.
The O’Callaghans Mills clubman suffered a tear to his cruciate ligament in a challenge game against Limerick club, Na Piarsaigh last weekend.He is due to meet with medical staff in the coming days to ascertain the extent of the injury.
In one of his first moves as Clare manager, Fitzgerald gave Donnellan the captaincy in 2012 and he would later go on to lead the county to a historic fourth All-Ireland title.
He lined out at wing-back in Clare’s comprehensive Munster Hurling League win over Kerry over a week ago. The news comes a day after Paul Kinnerk’s return to the management was confirmed. Of the present panel, Pat was to first to make his senior debut back in 2006 under the management of Anthony Daly.
Sixmilebridge man Seadna Morey remains out of action after he underwent surgery in December.
