1916 commemorative ceremony launches National Tree Week

national-tree-week-606x220National Tree Week 2016 will be launched with a tree planting ceremony at Mountshannon Harbour on Monday, 7th March at 11am by Cllr Michael Begley, Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District of Killaloe and Cllr Pat Hayes, Chairperson of the 1916 Steering Committee.

All of the villages, towns and cities who have won the overall TidyTowns award since the competition’s inception in 1958 have been awarded seven Sessile Oak trees, to represent the seven signatories to the Proclamation.
