Clare has its own Cheltenham Festival winner after jockey Derek O’Connor came in first on Minella Rocca on Tuesday afternoon.

At 8/1, Minella Rocca ran in the National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup (Listed Amateur Riders’ Novices’ Chase) on day one of the annual festival.

O’Connor, who is from Tubber, recorded his 1,000th win in point-to-points last year when successful on Death Duty at Cragmore in County Limerick.
