Fine Gael TD for Clare Joe Carey has said that funding of €37000 for Clare festivals will provide a great boost to the area.

“Many volunteers have been involved in the successful running of festivals in Clare. These festivals bring many visitors to the area and additional business to the local economy. This funding allocated by Fáilte Ireland, under its 2016 Festivals and Events Programme will allow organisers to progress their plans for next year’s festival.”

“Nationally this is an investment of over €1 million; €325,000 for the second phase of funding of large national festivals and almost €695,000 for smaller regional events. Festivals and events are the life-blood of tourism and are important in terms of generating employment. They encourage many visitors to come to Ireland and to Clare,” added Deputy Carey.
