Late point hands Offaly victory over Clare footballers

Offaly defeated Clare on a scoreline of 0-15 to 1-11 in the Allianz Football League Division 3 on Sunday at O’Connor Park in Tullamore.

It was Clare’s second loss of the campaign to date and it leaves them on 6 points from a possible 10.

Clare trailed for much of the match until a 70th minute goal from Miltown’s Eoin Cleary drew the Banner level. However, Michael Brazil’s injury time point restored Offaly’s lead and gave the Faithful County a valuable two points.

Clare’s scores came from Eoin Cleary (1-2, incl. 0-1f), David Tubridy (0-3f), Jamie Molone (0-2), Pat Burke, Séan Collins, Graham Guilfoyle and Enda Coughlan (0-1 each).

Clare go into Sunday week’s home match with Longford knowing that they must win if they are keep their promotion hopes alive.
