A group of more than 300 people, most of them from Clare, will climb Croagh Patrick in Mayo in aid of National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) on Sunday May 15th.

Among the climbers who participated in last year’s event was group of students from Scarriff, and groups from Shannon, Ennis, Newmarket on Fergus and Clarecastle.

What started off as as an idea and a Facebook event page set up by Siobhan Purcell Tierney at the beginning of 2015, the event’s popularity has continued to exceed all expectations.

The original idea in 2015 was to fill a bus of 50 with each passenger/climber raising 50 euro each. However, 15,000 euro was raised in 2015.
