The man who presented Clare captain Anthony Daly with the Liam McCarthy on the steps of the Hogan Stand in 1995 has passed away.

Former GAA president Jack Boothman was an active member of Blessington GAA club in Wicklow where he remained club president up to his death.

He was President of the GAA from 1994 to 1997 when he was succeeded by Joe McDonagh.

During his term, he supported the abolition of Rule 21, which prevented members of the British security forces from joining the GAA.
