Gwen O'Dowd [1604148]Kicking off the summer party evening is the opening of a spectacular exhibition of prints, called Waterbased and Other Stories, featuring work from a roll-call of Ireland’s leading artists, including William Crozier, Sean McSweeney, Gwen O’Dowd, Michael Cullen, Martin Gale, Donald Teskey and Hughie O’Donoghue to name but a few. If you’d like to own a piece of work by a leading Irish artist, this is the show for you.

Taking its title from a carborundum by Gwen O’Dowd, Waterbased is a group exhibition featuring a roll-call of Ireland’s leading artists, where water is a central element in the composition of the work.

Donald Teskey [1604146]On the same evening, glór will screen Billy Wilder’s 1959 classic comedy, Some Like it Hot, starring Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe. Rounding off the party evening, and playing till late is one of the most exciting new bands around – John Blek and the Rats. Winners of Tom Dunne’s Irish Album of the Year, John Blek & The Rats have quickly won the hearts of critics, their sound an infecting mix of folk, country, and Americana. The melancholy of their music combined with pounding rhythms and infectious choruses leads to beautiful songs that will delight.
