Still time to volunteer for the Fleadh

20160425_Fleadh_Cheoil_Shannon_Airport_Sponsorship_0403With only a few weeks to go, the Face of the Fleadh training schedule has been launched and each volunteer is asked to attend a two- hour training session between the 2nd and 8th of August.

There is still time to register as a Volunteer, according to Sharon Meaney, Manager of Clare Volunteer Centre. “The Fleadh is traditionally a time when families and musicians gather to enjoy and share not only the music but the excitement and fun that the Fleadh brings. Volunteers are in a unique position to be part of this event and contribute to putting Ennis and Co. Clare on the map as a place where every visitor is welcomed. It is also a unique opportunity to volunteer at the biggest Irish traditional music event in the world,” she said.

Coordinated by the Clare Volunteer Centre, the training will cover everything the Fleadh Volunteer needs to know to ensure they have a positive and enjoyable experience. Volunteers will be involved in a variety of roles from meeting and greeting visitors, keeping Ennis green, stewarding, traffic management, catering and administration.

Paying tribute to the campaign, Fleadh Chairman Micheál O Riabhaigh said that he’s confident Ennis will have about 1,000 volunteers on the streets and at venues at various times. “The truth is the Fleadh could not exist without the spirt of community and volunteerism that is at the core of Comhaltas. Clare Volunteer Centre is doing great work in organising both the recruiting campaign and the training. It is so important that people who give of their time to be given proper information, direction and appreciation. Let me say before the Fleadh starts that the Fleadh Committee appreciates what each and every volunteer is doing. We thank you for your time, your commitment, your energy and for the Fáilte that I know will extend to all our visitors”.

If you would like to register as a volunteer and attend one of the Face of the Fleadh sessions, please contact the Clare Volunteer Centre on 065 68 66 800 or info@volunteerclare.ie before 29th July.
