Clare bowed out of the U16 All Ireland Championship at the hands of a determined Kilkenny side in John Lockes GAA grounds Callan. The home side came into the game with wins over Waterford, Limerick and Dublin, with Clare standing in their way of a clean sweep in the group game stage of the competition.

Kilkenny opened the scoring with an Eimear Farrell point. The Kittens first goal came just a minute later, a shot which looked to be drifting wide was batted out and Suzie Aylward struck the loose ball to the back of the Clare net. The first half was entirely dominated by Kilkenny with the physically stronger side adding seven points on the bounce before Aylward struck for her second green flag with eleven minutes on the clock.

They went on to hit a further 1-6 before the half time whistle, whist their backs worked hard at nullifying the Clare attack, to Msee the half time score Kilkenny 3-14 Clare no score.

Clare improved in the second half however the game was effectively over for the Banner side. Aoife Power landed Clares first score five minutes into the second half when she converted a free. Kilkenny responded with three white flags before a foul on Caoimhe Carmody saw Power again split the posts.

Midway through the second half Muireann Scanlon raised a green flag for the Banner side. Power added a brace for Clare however a ruthless Kilkenny side kept on the pressure running out comprehensive winners and will now go on to meet Cork in the semi final.
