A new Youth Employability Initiative run by Clare Youth Service is looking for young people aged 18 – 24 years across the county who are experiencing barriers in their career development.

The programme will work with participants on a one-to-one basis to address their individual needs and will provide training in employability skills, CV preparation, mentoring, job-seeking workshops and retraining where necessary.

Youth Employability Initiative aims to assist anyone in the target age group who feels that their progress towards accessing employment has stalled. This includes those who have attended third-level courses, whether they have completed them or not but who have been unable to transfer into employment.

Trainer and Youth Worker with the Initiative, Emily Casey, is inviting young people from across the county who may benefit from the one-to-one approach on offer,

“With this Initiative, we are aiming to help young people identify their individual pathways to a job and address any obstacles in their way. We can provide a range of services to develop their job-readiness and help them practically access the world of work as well as identify the most suitable training opportunities where that is the best option” Emily explained.

As the approach is based on individual needs, this will influence the amount of time that each participant will engage with the programme. Sessions will take place at times and in locations most suited to the individual and the amount of time involved may range from just a few sessions in total to a session a week for the three months’ duration of the programme.

Places on the programme are limited but participation is free and voluntary and open to participants in all parts of County Clare.

The Initiative is backed by a once-off grant from the Department of Children & Youth Affairs, funded by the Dormant Accounts Fund and made available locally by the Limerick Clare Education & Training Board

Interested young people aged 18 – 24 years can contact the Youth Employability Initiative at Clare Youth Service 065 6845350 or on 089 4621526 or via email yei@clareyouthservice.org
