Tough draws for Clare in Munster Championships

Details have been announced as to Clare’s opponents in the 2017 Munster Championship at U21, Minor and U17 level in gaelic football and hurling.

Without a manager following the appointment of Donal Moloney to the senior position along with Gerry O’Connor, the Clare U21 hurlers will play the winners of Tipperary and Limerick in the Munster semi-final next year with the tie to take place in Semple Stadium or the Gaelic Grounds.

Neil Hawes’ U21 footballers have been handed an extremely tough draw. They will travel to Kerry to take on the Kingdom in the Munster quarter-final with the loser exiting at the first hurdle. The winner plays Waterford.

In his first game as manager of the Minor Hurlers, Bodyke’s Sean Doyle will be plotting the downfall of Waterford. The fixture will be played in Waterford, the loser faces Cork in the playoff round with the winner advancing to the semi-finals.

Clare’s only football All-Star Seamus Clancy has taken charge of the County’s minor footballers. Like the U21’s they will play Kerry in their quarter-final with the winner booking a semi-final spot and the loser getting a second chance in the play-off rounds.

In the U17 competition, Clare come up against Kerry in the hurling quarter-final with a semi-final date with Waterford the prize for the victors. In the football Tipperary stand in Clare’s way of a semi-final meeting with Kerry.
