A woman has been stabbed in Limerick City.
Aged thirty seven the female was discovered with serious injuries to her body at approximately 12:40am on Sunday November 27th. Gardaí responded to a report of disturbance at a property at Hassetts Villas, Thomondgate.
An ambulance was called to the scene immediately upon seeing the woman’s body. She was taken to University Hospital Limerick where medics have described her condition as critical but stable.
One man aged twenty eight has been arrested by Gardaí in relation to the assault. He is being detained at Henry St Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
Currently the scene at Hassetts Villas has been sealed off as Gardaí preserve the area for a technical examination.

Separately €250,000 worth of cannabis and cocaine were seized in Limerick City on Saturday November 26th.
As part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of controlled substances in the Limerick area, Gardaí from the Divisional Drug Unit, Limerick assisted by local Gardaí searched a number of houses.
During the course of a search of one house in Moyross, Gardaí discovered Cannabis resin with an approximate street value of €19,500, Cocaine with an approximate street value of €12,500 and Cannabis herb with an approximate street value of €215,000 (all subject to analysis). A male (31) was later arrested and is being detained at Henry St Garda station under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.
At another property in Kileely, Limerick €10,050 in cash and Cannabis resin with an approximate street value of €100 was also seized.
