“At times, all parents feel lost or without a clue about what their child might need. Adoptive parents, in particular, can often question their judgement and this course is designed to increase their understanding and confidence around challenges they face” said Carmel O’Dea, a social worker with Clarecare.

The course is based on the Circle of Security® Parenting™ programme where trained facilitators will work with adoptive parents to help them to understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs and by supporting their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions. The course will also reveal how they can enhance the development of their child’s self esteem and make their child feel more secure.

This programme was developed in the United States and is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. It is proving to be very successful and popular with parents and professionals alike.

It will run in the Clarecare Head Office in Ennis for two hours on Wednesday evenings during February and March. The eight week course is free but donations are welcome. Places are limited so early booking is strongly advised.

To book or for more information please email adoption@clarecare.ie or phone 065 6828178.
