The Kilkee unit of the Irish Coast Guard was tasked last night following a report of a jet ski broken down at sea.
The alarm was raised by a passerby who saw a man swimming towards the shore while the second man remained with the jet ski.
The two men had been on a jet ski in Kilkee Bay when it’s understood the battery on their craft died. One of the men swam ashore to arrange for friends to launch a boat and recovers the jet ski.
In the meantime however, a member of the public who had been observing from the shore, alerted the Irish Coast Guard.
The man who swam ashore advised Coast Guard volunteers that he would arrange for a boat from a local dive club to recover the broken down jet ski and the second rider.
Coast Guard volunteers remained on scene until the jet ski had been safely recovered.
A Coast Guard spokesman said: “A member of the public called the Coast Guard about this incident. In this case the jet skiers were able to recover their own craft with the help of friends.
We always recommend people call 999/112 and ask for the Coast Guard if they see anyone in difficulty on or near water.”
