€175,000 has been allocated under the Municipal District of Ennis Footpath Programme 2017.
Part funded by the Local Property Tax, the allocation will enable the upgrade and replacement of footpaths during the coming months.
9 projects will benefit under the €75,000 Discretionary Maintenance Grant, including:
– Ballybeg, cul de sac road near Kildysart Road footpath on west side of road (€12,500)
– Knocknammina Replacement of sections of the footpaths (€12,500)
– Quin from the school to the R469 (€12,500)
– Ennis Station Road old Burren Cinema to O’Connell Street thin coating material to provide surface texture on structurally sound old concrete footpath (€6,000)
– Ennis Bindon Street and Bank Place repair of historic stone paving (€10,000)
– Ennis Upper O’Connell Street short section opposite Cathedral near Barrack St. Junction (€5,000)
– Ennis Parnell Street Reset gullies and replace sections of the drainage brick (€10,000)
– Ennis Bothar Na Trocaire near school crossing point. Replace short sections of footpath damaged by vehicles and trees (€3,500)
– Kilrush Road near Ahearn’s Terrace thin coating material to provide surface texture on structurally sound old concrete footpath (€3,000).
The footpath network in the Circular Road area of Hermitage will be enhanced under a Municipal District 2017 fund totalling €50,000. The funding will used to improve the surface texture of existing concrete footpaths. The work will be carried out following completion of broadband ducting work which is due to commence in the coming days.
Meanwhile, €70,000 in funding from 2016 will be used for the replacement of footpaths on the R458 Gort Road (completed), Sandfield Park and Clare Road, R352 Tulla Road and the Kilrush Road.
