The volunteer crew of the Lough Derg RNLI lifeboat was requested to launch on Saturday evening following reports of a vessel aground on the lake.

A volunteer crew member at Lough Derg RNLI has successfully passed out as a helm on the station’s inshore lifeboat.

As the June bank holiday approaches, the Irish Coast Guard, RNLI and Water Safety Ireland have issued a joint water safety appeal.

Lough Derg RNLI Fundraising Branch’s first RNLI Lough Derg Charity Cycle, a 130km cycle round the beautiful Lough Derg earlier this month, was a great success.  

Clifden RNLI’s new all-weather Shannon class lifeboat arrived to an emotional welcome from crowds gathered in the Connemara community to see it complete its week-long voyage home from the charity’s All Weather lifeboat centre in Poole.

The Lough Derg RNLI was tasked on Sunday evening to assist two people on board a 25ft yacht that had run aground at Ryan’s Point on the eastern shore of Lough Derg.

In the lead up to the May bank holiday weekend the Coast Guard, RNLI and Water Safety Ireland have issued a joint water safety appeal asking people to take some basic steps to stay safe.

The Lough Derg RNLI lifeboat was called out last night to assist a lone boater who got into difficulty on the lake.
