Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works (OPW), has welcomed the start of construction works on the Springfield Flood Relief Scheme in recent days.
Minister of State for the Office of Public Works, Mr. Patrick O’Donovan TD, today visited County Clare to view progress on the flood relief schemes being progressed by Clare County Council and the OPW.
Clare County Council has confirmed that its Crisis Management Team is continually monitoring the situation with regard to rising water levels at Springfield, Clonlara.
The Office of Public Works has confirmed it will provide capital funding for flood protection measures for Springfield Clonlara and has also approved the preferred measures subject to a number of conditions.
A cost effective plan to address serious flooding problem in Clonlara has been identified by the Office of Public Works and is just awaiting official approval from residents and local authority.
The Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief met with residents and farmers from areas badly affected floods in recent years.
