Newmarket-on-Fergus GAA will launch their club annual Tradraí on Thursday February 18th at 8pm in the GAA Clubhouse.
The thirty third edition of the esteemed local GAA magazine reflects on the year with a detailed account of the past twelve months. Last year Tradraí returned to the shelves after a three year absence and received rapturous praise from local and non-local readers. The launch for the return of Tradraí in February 2015 saw a large crowd gather in the Clubhouse and it is anticipated that a similar attendance will congregate at the same venue on February 18th.
Con Woods, Annmarie Meehan and Ryan Corry continue in their positions on the Committee responsible for the magazine with PRO Páraic McMahon the Editor once more, this year they are joined on the Committee by Bridie O’Looney a woman who has given great service to GAA in the parish and currently serves as President of the Newmarket-on-Fergus Camogie Club.
Included in the annual are interviews with some of the biggest names and most recognisable faces in the parish, past greats who collected numerous Senior Hurling titles look back on the years gone by, the exploits of the club’s Senior Camogie team that won a League and Championship double are well documented while there are historic articles and articles on the next generation. Reports of every single team in the club provide a summary of the year for all teams. That and much more!
Speaking ahead of the launch, Páraic McMahon paid tribute to all the individuals involved in putting the project together. “With this committee we aim to publish a magazine that documents the year gone by in a refreshing manner but one that can stand the test of time. This would not be possible if it were not for our dedicated sponsors, the staff at McNamara Printers, the diligent committee and of course the people of the club”.
McMahon added “One of the great successes of Tradraí is that it brings people of all ages together to celebrate the year that was and to look forward to the future while appreciating and recognising the past. This is definitely a publication that has something for everyone”.
Individuals from all over Clare and beyond are invited to what promises to be an enjoyable and memorable launch on Thursday night.
