Clare travel to Cork this afternoon for their second outing in the 2016 Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship.

Reigning All-Ireland Champions Cork welcome Clare to Pairc Uí Rinn fresh from a convincing thirteen point victory over Waterford. The Banner meanwhile were on the receiving end of a shock home defeat to Offaly.

Orlaith Duggan is in her first year as captain of the side and believes that while Cork are chasing their third All-Ireland title in succession they can cause an upset.

Speaking on Clare FM, she said “Cork have been beaten two times already this year by Limerick so definitely there’s some weaknesses there that I suppose we want to expose. On our own side we’re just eager to put in a performance because the game last Saturday it doesn’t indicate it doesn’t mirror the type of work we’ve put in and we’re definitely disappointed with it, we’re going to use that as fuel going down to Cork on Saturday”.

Last weekend the Clooney/Quin woman lined out at midfield and at one stage in the second half tore through the Offaly defence before striking the sliotar between the posts. That defiance and determination will be needed in abundance versus Cork.

Duggan is adamant that Clare must put in a display that does them justice against the Rebelettes. “Any team playing All-Ireland Champions two years in a row aswell especially in their home ground, it’s a huge challenge but one I think we’re really geared towards. The Offaly game has done nothing only spur us on in that regard because we’re eager to show the work we’ve put in and we’re looking for a performance that mirrors the hard work over the last few months”.
